In order to create a transition town and society, we need to look at our own personal resources to cope with change and commit to action. Being part of a supportive group can help us feel we are not alone and using mindfulness – staying in the present moment – can help us to consider the choices we are making.
For example, as we eat an apple do we appreciate all the elements that have come together to deliver that apple to our mouth? To what extent is having a car part of our identity, and are we willing to sacrifice time and convenience to use public transport instead? And how do we respond to our own feelings of frustration, guilt and despair?
The hope is this group will meet once a month to participate in mindful walking and other practices, support each other in applying these in our daily life, and share our concerns and ideas about responding to the challenges of creating a more resilient and sustainable world.
